Naturally when one goes through a tragic situation and God miraculously comes through for the person the story is always expected to be told primarily to glorify God. It is also expected that the profoundness of such testimony should spur others on to put their trust in God. However, more often readers of such tragic narratives of God’s intervention only offer their sympathy, but lessons learnt from the person’s dealings with God are normally lost on them; and that is it! Christians continually quote the Scripture that says “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” – Romans 8:28. So what is the good in tragic or traumatic situations that happen to Christians?
