When You Lose a Loved One: A Christian’s Hope In The Darkness Of Grief

We are humans and that humanness comes with limitations. We are not in as much control as we would like to think. Usually, we do our best best for those we love, give our limited knowledge and ability at the time. When my husband complained of feeling unwell and the evening before his passing, I suggested we go see a doctor but he refused, dismissing my concern. I didn’t press him and gave painkiller he requested instead. After his death, I find myself feeling guilty for insisting, for not dragging him to see the doctor. I felt that he would still be here if I would push him to go to the hospital. I felt that his death was, therefore, my fault and the that load of false guilt complicated my already heavy burden of grief.
